Public Health Benefits
The most immediate impact of improved water access is on public health. When families have reliable access to clean, treated water, the risk of waterborne diseases, including cholera, typhoid, and diarrhea, decreases significantly. Children, who are disproportionately affected by water-related illness, benefit most directly. By expanding our RO treatment capacity and piped network, LAWS is reducing the number of residents who must rely on untreated water sources.

Water security is an economic enabler. When households spend less time and money sourcing water from trucks, those resources are freed for education, nutrition, and productive activity. Reliable water supply supports local businesses, restaurants, schools, and health facilities. Water Accessibility
The transition from water trucking to direct household connections represents a fundamental improvement in how Las Anod’s residents access water. Trucked water is expensive, often inconsistent in quality, and requires households to manage large storage tanks. A piped connection changes this entirely, clean water is available on demand, at a lower cost, and with greater reliability. For low-income families, a household connection is transformative.
Environmental Responsibility
LAWS recognizes that responsible water management is inseparable from environmental stewardship. We monitor groundwater levels to prevent over-depletion of aquifers, integrate solar energy to reduce our carbon footprint, and manage brine by-products responsibly. We are also exploring investments in groundwater recharge infrastructure, such as sand dams, that capture rainfall and replenish aquifers, building long-term water resilience.
