Organization Overview
Las Anod Water Supply (LAWS) is the principal water utility for the city of Las Anod, the capital of SSC Khaatumo State and one of Somalia’s most strategically significant urban centers. Located in the Sool region of northern Somalia, Las Anod serves as a major economic, administrative, and cultural hub for the surrounding area.
With a population exceeding 346,000 residents and a projected growth rate of 3.3% annually, the city’s demand for safe, reliable water is both urgent and growing. LAWS was established to address one of the most pressing challenges facing the city: the severe scarcity of clean drinking water.
We operate under a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model, in collaboration with the SSC Khaatumo State Ministry of Water and the Municipality of Las Anod. This governance structure ensures that our operations are aligned with public health priorities and community needs.

Las Anod faces real and growing environmental pressures. Annual rainfall averages approximately 200 mm, with prolonged drought periods that strain groundwater resources. LAWS is responding with a long-term sustainability strategy that includes solar-powered pumping systems, nature-based groundwater recharge solutions, and the development of new sustainable borehole sites.
