Las Anod Water Supply (LAWS) LAWS is the main water utility for Las Anod, the capital of Waqooyi Bari State of Somalia and one of northern Somalia’s most important cities.
Located in the Sool region, Las Anod is a growing hub for trade, government, and culture. With over 346,000 people and growing by 3.3% each year, the need for safe, reliable drinking water has never been greater.
LAWS was created to meet that need. Our mission is simple: get clean water to every home, business, and clinic in the city.
We operate through a Public-Private Partnership with the Waqooyi Bari State Ministry of Water and the Municipality of Las Anod. That partnership keeps us accountable to the public while giving us the flexibility to deliver results where they matter most, in people’s taps.

Commitment to Sustainability
Las Anod faces real and growing environmental pressures. Annual rainfall averages approximately 200 mm, with prolonged drought periods that strain groundwater resources. LAWS is responding with a long-term sustainability strategy that includes solar-powered pumping systems, nature-based groundwater recharge solutions, and the development of new sustainable borehole sites.
